From Struggle to Strength: My Path to Self-Care

On the outside, I look strong, and fit, and but on the inside, I was barely holding on. Anxiety was my daily companion. My IBS was out of control—there was hardly a thing I could eat without feeling awful. I was jumpy, emotional, and constantly teetering on the edge. Training, which used to be my outlet, became a struggle. Dizzy spells and migraines hit hard, and my relationships—with myself and others—were at an all-time low


Don't judge a book by its cover! My Path To Self Care

Just because someone looks ‘healthy’ doesn’t mean they are thriving inside. I had to go through some dark times before I finally woke up and started putting myself first. For years, I bought into this lie that I was ‘too much,’ selfish, or self-absorbed. Nothing could have been further from the truth. Yet, I let those stories people told me take up space in my head, day after day, year after year. Well, F**K THAT SH*T!!!! I was ready to walk the path of self care.

I No Longer Believe Those Old Stories

Here I am now, at 51 (actually 52 in 2024), and I no longer believe those old stories. But trust me, it didn’t happen overnight. The journey to self-love and self-care takes time, patience, and a whole lot of untangling. If you’ve been following my website or social media lately, you’ve probably noticed how much more of myself I’m sharing. Last year (2022), I made a promise to stop hiding. And you know what? That’s what ALL WOMEN need. It’s time to stop shrinking and start loving the hell out of ourselves.


If you’re feeling like SH*T, chances are you’re treating yourself like SH*T too. It’s a vicious cycle. But the great news? You’re still alive, and that means you can do something about it. YAY!!!


Prioritise self care

I say these words all the time, and no, I’m not getting paid for it! But honestly, until you believe that you are worth the time, effort, and love, you’re going to stay stuck in that loop of self-neglect. I know because I was stuck there too.


Is My Life Perfect Now?

Today, at 51 (52), I feel better than I ever have. Is my life perfect? Hell no! But that’s the beauty of it—I’m not chasing perfection anymore. I’m chasing a deeper love for myself. That’s the game-changer. And guess what? You can do this too. I’m not special. I’ve just decided to give myself the love and care I deserve.
